Road to BET Awards: How 2019 shaped Rema’s music career

It is the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards 2020. And a familiar name in the Naija music industry is on the list. It is Rema! Rema is nominated for the Viewers’ Choice Best New International Act. What a story!

Make no mistake, Rema’s sound was selling fast in the Nigerian music industry since his official debut in 2019. Fusing Afro-beats with a touch of trap defines his unique sound. And he did say he loves to do something extraordinary.

“I tend to mix a whole bunch of cultures into one sound to make it have an impact in multiple zones across the world… I want to make the whole world dance,” Rema stated in an interview with The Guardian.

That’s what music fans are yearning for! Dance and enjoy good music. No doubt, Rema’s music has motivated us to new dance moves.

Songs like “Dumebi” became an instant fan favorite all over the continent and “Iron Man” made it to Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist. Today, “Ginger me” is rocking the airwaves.

Rema's music career has been on rise

One thing’s for sure. Rema’s music career inspires most upcoming Nigerian artistes. His sojourn into the industry has been intriguing so far. Since he was discovered by Don Jazzy, he has never been short of hit singles.

2019 was the year that defined Rema’s music career. After much hard work and solo freestyles on Instagram, he was finally discovered by the Jonzing World talent management team.

Meanwhile, the talented youngster didn’t stop at that. Leaving an indelible mark was the “sure way” to cement an heroic spot in the Nigerian music industry.

We can say that having been nominated for the BET Awards 2020, Rema has laid a marker for a successful music career beyond Naija.
