Double U unleashes his lyrical wizardry on ‘Like That’

The Nigerian music industry is constantly taking a new shape with some ingenious talents bursting unto the scene. The musical output in recent years has been fantastic. We have seen Rema make a break to the big stage. Fireboy DML and Joeboy are doing well, sir (sic). Soft is mesmerizing us with his lyrics.

As if we can’t have a dose of that, Double U is giving us more than we can ask with his musical work. His lyrics are breathtaking. Little wonder his recent single ‘Like That’ makes an intriguing musical blend.

‘Like That’, a touch of Emeka Winner aka Double U, is even more intriguing for its lyrical chronology. I’m mesmerized by what is best described as “antonym-ical rhymes” of this jamz. A typical Naija stuff this music defines.

Check out an excerpt of ‘Like That’ lyrics:

Hold me like a soldier, tie me like a prisoner

Treat me like your best friend, love me like no other

Fantastic stuff, right?

“My music is solely Afro because of my love for Nigerian music,” Double U speaks of his passion for the game.

“I could do rap if I need to,” he continues. “It all depends on the instrumental but my genre is Afropop and Alternative music.”

Everything about life inspires Double U. “I find life to be very interesting – the puzzles, dramas and fun it comes with, he stated. Everything. Including the trials and hurdles of getting someone to love you inspires me.”
